Welcome to my blog,
In this post, I will dive into the process of creating a podcast for my class and the project itself. This podcast was created with the intention of giving a platform to voices within small communities. “Ritmo Local” or “Local Rhythm” in English, is a new podcast dedicated to celebrating the rich Latin culture within local communities out of North Carolina. Each episode aims to tell the stories of our community and to highlight the unity that exists in our towns and what important contributions its members have provided. For the first episode I chose to interview a business close to my hometown, three and a half hours away from Appalachian State, Fuquay Varina.
Las Carolinas Supermarket is near and dear to my heart as they have provided support to my family personally and I have seen firsthand the work they've done within the community. Their story as Latino entrepreneurs with an "American dream" is not only relatable to many immigrants, but a story anyone who seeks to become a business owner should hear and could benefit from.
I never have made a podcast before my social media storytelling class but the process of creating it on Spotify for Podcasters was straightforward. I had a wonderful time interviewing Eduardo Alonso and Linda Montufar in person and learning about their story of overcoming challenges and success. Since I've been home from university, getting back into a journalistic groove and editing on familiar software like Adobe Rush to quickly put together my audio clips and music was fun! I encourage everyone to unleash their creativity and give podcasting a shot. After all, everyone deserves a chance for their stories to be heard.
See you next time!
